Office Pilates
“...Our interpretation of physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly
developed body with a sound mind fully capable of naturally, easily, and satisfactorily performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”
The Benefits
Increased abdominal and back strength. Increased flexibility and whole body toning. Balance. Focus. Increased body awareness.
There is no other movement philosophy quite like Pilates. Innovative, intuitive and physically demanding, Pilates is an opportunity to recover from injury, maintain optimal body intelligence and strength as well as prevent from injury or strain.
Pilates is an exercise system made up of fluid, controlled movements that radiate from the torso, the core of the body, the powerhouse. Made up of the grouping of abdominal and back muscles, the powerhouse is the building block of each exercise.
The engagement of the transversus abdominus, pelvic floor and other postural muscles are integral in Pilates exercises. The specific recruitment of core muscles supports neutral spine, which in turn promotes proper alignment through stabilization and mobilization. In cooperation with breath and intention, Pilates brings to our bodies and minds a balance that helps to rehabilitate and protect from injury.

Break 100, Break 90, Break 80
Pilates will give you a better game.

- Increased Flexibility - Hit the ball straighter
- Increased Strength - Hit the ball farther
- Injury Prevention - Play more!!
Pilates For Golf (PFG) is the one golf exercise program that will help you hit the ball consistently farther and straighter, with reduced risk of injury and back pain. Developed by Sarah Christensen, Pilates For Golf builds strength and flexibility simultaneously, develops core strength, improves posture and alignment, and creates stability. All the elements needed for a great swing!
Pilates is a technique for moving in a way that is the most natural, efficient and pain free.
It is not a bunch of exercises, but a certain way we move in life. And best of all we take these techniques right out onto the course. You'll learn to drive to the course, walk, tee off and putt in the Pilates technique.
While some of the exercises and stretches may look familiar, it is an understanding of the underlying Pilates techniques that make them so powerful.
Interestingly enough, once the Pilates techniques can be executed without thinking about them, the body will start to move in the Pilates way on its own!
While traditional Pilates work will of course improve your golf swing, the Pilates For Golf program is designed specifically to improve the biomechanics needed for a great swing, plus we have modified many of the exercises for easier execution by men.
What you can expect from the program:
- A 12 point biomechanics assessment
- An in studio program
- A specifically designed home program
- A pre-game injury prevention routine
What you Get to take with you:
- Pilates For Golf DVD and accompanying exercise sheet
- Before and After Pictures

Pilates and Golf in the News

By John Paul Newport
I was struck, though, when I talked to several prominent golf- fitness experts about Pilates, by how enthusiastic they were about the central benefits of Pilates—and how easily they think everyday players could get major benefits in as little as 10 minutes a day. The only thing required is a change in the old-fashioned macho gym mentality.
Dave Phillips, the co-founder of the Titleist Performance Institute in Oceanside, Calif., notes that the best golfers have strong, stable lower bodies and flexible, mobile upper bodies. Their swings progress from the lower body to the trunk, the shoulders and lastly the arms. To duplicate that sequence, amateurs usually need the most work on their glutemous muscles and their cores. Lacking strength and flexibility in those areas, they compensate by using their arms, which is a primary cause of slicing.
"People struggle really hard at golf and don't get better because they don't address the physical side,' Mr. Phillips said. 'Their bodies just can't do what a good swing requires them to do."
